With what devices is TaskAgent compatible?
TaskAgent requires iOS 6 or greater, and is a universal app capable of running on both iPhones and iPads.

How can I enable Dropbox syncing?
Go to the settings inside TaskAgent, then link and enable the sync switch in the Dropbox panel. You’ll be prompted to authorize the app for accessing Dropbox.

Changes to my lists are not syncing. What’s happening?
Please note that all data is only synced every time the app is launched, but you can start a manual sync by pulling down on the tasks — also known as pull-to-refresh. If you’re still having problems in getting sync to work, please contact support to ask for more help.

Is there a way to quickly mark a task as done?
Yes! Double-tap any task to quickly mark it as done or not done. There’s also an option in the app’s settings called Swap Tap Actions that brings back the same action for a single-tap, as it appeared in versions previous to 2.2, and the double-tap for accessing the task’s details.

How does TaskAgent work with Dropbox?
TaskAgent communicates to Dropbox through the folder access APIs, meaning that it will create a special folder (referred to as an “app folder” as noted in Dropbox’s documentation) to use exclusively for the app. This folder, once created, can be moved anywhere inside your Dropbox or even rename it without affecting its connection to TaskAgent.

Why doesn’t TaskAgent support root Dropbox access?
As of version 2.4, TaskAgent no longer officially supports root Dropbox access. This choice was carefully considered after talking to several users, and will ultimately allow for better features to be added to the app in the future. Folder access also has several advantages over root access when thinking in terms of how well the Dropbox API works.

But what if I really, really, really want root Dropbox access in TaskAgent?
Taking into consideration that root access uses a different and less powerful sync procedure, that is your choice to make. Just please note that root access is no longer officially supported and you won’t be able to receive help should any issues arise. If you were using root access prior to version 2.4, TaskAgent should continue to work as normal. If you want to switch from folder to root access after version 2.4, simply go to Safari in your iOS device and enter the following URL exactly as shown:

taskagent://allow-root-access

Also, please note that there are no guarantees that root access will continue to be available in TaskAgent, albeit in this hidden method, in future updates.

Is it possible to share my data with other TaskAgent users on different Dropbox accounts?
Sorry, TaskAgent is targeted for single users only. TaskAgent is not a group collaboration tool, or has ever claimed to be one.

My lists are being duplicated with numbers like (1) being appended to their names.
This is a known issue in lists that contain non-English characters in their names. Please avoid using these characters just in the lists’ names. Tasks remain unaffected and can contain any kind of characters.

Some lists have disappeared!
If you’re having problems with having some lists appear in the app from Dropbox, try the “Force List Download” option in the Dropbox section inside the app’s settings.

Some lists don’t appear in my Dropbox!
If you’re having problems with having some lists appear in Dropbox from the app, try the “Force List Upload” option in the Dropbox section inside the app’s settings.

My archived lists are not syncing.
TaskAgent does not sync any archived lists and are bound to the device. This is due partly to ensure that syncing is not slowed down by a huge collection of archived lists. However, it is possible to back up or restore from Dropbox all of your archived lists through the app. You can do this by tapping on the Dropbox button on the upper-left corner of the Archived view.

I’ve enabled TextExpander, yet my snippets don’t work. What’s wrong?
Probably snippet sharing isn’t enabled inside the TextExpander touch app itself. Please verify that all settings are correct.

How are the lists formatted when saved to Dropbox?
For Dropbox syncing, they’re saved as a regular text file and UTF-8 encoded. For more information, please see the formatting guide.

I forgot my Dropbox password. How do I reset it?
Go respectively to dropbox.com and start the password recovery procedure. TaskAgent uses Dropbox’s own SDK and doesn’t have access to your password.

Will you support service “X” or Android in the future?
There are currently no plans to provide additional services or smartphone alternatives to TaskAgent in the future. (But there’s a Mac version in the works!)
