On a more personal topic, I’ll share some of my New Year Resolutions that involve my Mac. Happy New Year, everyone!

Get rid of unused apps. Over the last year, my Applications folder has grown substantially — mostly freeware and trials — with apps that I never end up using. Even though all those flashy icons may look nice in the folder, it’s given my HD a serious hit. Before I started to write this, I had over 200 apps in the folder (never counted the sub-folders!), but went ahead and got the number down to a more healthy 100+. I still need to evaluate the remaining ones, so I can still expect for the number to drop considerably. (By the way, I already got back 5+ GB of HD space from those unused apps!)
To my Mac: I’ll love you for at least one more year. If I have one big flaw, is that I am always seeking to buy the next big thing in tech. Fortunately, I do keep a budget and never get away with everything I want. But as of late, my first-gen MacBook Pro has started to show its age and deficiencies that are particular of this generation. Behind my Mac’s back, I’ve been gazing at the newest ones available, even though it will barely be two years old in a couple of months. And of course, one year from now, an affordable (yet to be announced!) Mac nano would be ideal.
GTD. Some of you called me crazy when I mentioned that my organizing needs where met by my Moleskine notepads instead of leaving the task up to my Mac — but that’ll change next year. I’ll be getting a GTD app for my Mac hoping that I’ll be more efficient. I still don’t know which one yet, since there are more than a couple of quality apps available for the Mac right now.
Improve Mac Recon! Details TBA. In the meanwhile, want to share your New Year resolutions?
