Now that the hype around the iPod touch is going down and units are starting to be sold, may are wondering where Apple is getting its facts for naming it the “best iPod ever”. iLounge delivered the best and most truthful iPod touch review — and if you haven’t read it yet, it’s highly recommended you do. Where could’ve Apple improved on this iPod to really make it the best ever?

It’s the phone-less iPhone. It’s virtually identical to the iPhone’s design. Why is this a bad move from Apple’s part? First, Apple is recognized for differentiating its products — and similar aesthetics from the iPhone hurts its branding. Well, let’s say Apple wanted to keep the iPhone’s design because it was perfect (much like the scroll-wheel), but then why replace the perfect backside with the shiny and highly scratchable metal from previous iPods? And why did Apple purposely cripple or omit certain features from it?
Tech specs. Yes, it’s basically the phone-less iPhone. The increase in storage doesn’t mean much since it’s still limited by the flash memory. Why limit the true video iPod by not including the roomier HDs from the iPod classic line? By the way, the iPhone’s screen is superior in visual quality. And let’s not get started with the battery life…
The iPhone is the best iPod ever. Much like Steve claimed back in January’s MacWorld. And now that its price has gone down at $400, it pretty much states that. Hey… but Steve just said this one was it… since when can’t he make up his mind?
Could it be improved? That really depends on the hacking community — give it the same quality apps the iPhone has and more. But it won’t be perfect until Apple includes an HD at the very least.
Instead… Apple has attained near perfection with the new nanos. Better buy one instead, since it has almost the same storage capacity…
