Even though since the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store has been available for the iPod touch since it launched, Apple just released today an update for the iPhone which finally includes this functionality.

What is it? The iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store is the whole music aspect from the iTunes Store crammed into a simple and intuitive UI designed for Apple’s new music players, which have Wi-Fi built-in. Browsing, listening, buying music, and creating playlists — all of this can finally be done solely in your iPod touch/iPhone.
The Experience. As you browse through the enhanced music store, you can preview and buy any song as easily as if it were right on your Mac. Once you have purchased the music, it’ll automatically sync with your computer the next time the device is connected to it. There you’ll discover a new “Purchased” option in the sidebar — specifically for songs purchased away from your Mac.
Limitations. Besides the fact that the mobile iTunes Store is limited only to music purchases (hence its name), those who were hoping to download music from the iPhone’s EDGE wireless will be disappointed to know that its use is limited to Wi-Fi only (once again, hence its name).
Overall. It is a well-built and enjoyable experience to be able to purchase music from iTunes and be able to listen to it (even make playlists!) when away from your Mac. In fact, I’ve already observed more than a couple of people buying from the mobile iTunes exclusively when only buying music — even if the Mas is in front of them. Yes, it’s that enjoyable and worthy as part of Apple’s growing media service offerings.

Its damn addicting too… I’ve spent more money on new music in the last week than in month prior. It’s got something to do with hearing a song while you’re out and about and being able to purchase it right then and there!
