Five iPhone apps to check out

With the 2.0 update having already found its way to iPhone users unofficially, and the App Store available in all its glory, people went berserk one day before the launch of the iPhone 3G. I installed the new software on my old iPhone, I downloaded a lot of apps (most free), and here some are the best ones I tried.

Super Monkey Ball. Sega’s popular series found its way to the iPhone with all its addictiveness intact, the best graphics on the iPhone, and mostly perfect tilt control. Simply put, if you like games, this one is a must-own for any iPhone user.
Sega :: $9.99

Twitterrific. Another no-brainer for the iPhone user with a Twitter account. Twitterrific is so good that it even won Apple’s first-ever ADA for best iPhone app. And why not? It’s presentation is excellent, it’s easy to use, and has advanced features such as use of the camera for tweets, as well as a location-updater. There are two versions of Twitterrific: one free that supports some ads every now and then — and the premium version that’s ad-free and has an extra theme for $9.99.
The Icon Factory :: Free or $9.99

AOL Radio. A missing feature from all iPod models ever — radio. Now that’s finally solved with internet radio, courtesy of AOL. With access to a lot of real radio stations, you know you’ll find something new to hear next time. The best news? It even worked over an EDGE connection — it takes a while, but it works!
AOL :: Free.

Evernote. I’ve already sung my praises for Evernote in the past, but having it finally on the iPhone to make full use of it is wonderful. I was taking picture notes and recording audio notes in no time — knowing in satisfaction that it would sync over to my home’s Mac when I returned.
Evernote :: Free.

Movies.app. The popular web app for the iPhone made the jump as a full iPhone app! The interface is almost the same, which is good since it kept things simple and functional. But what made me choose this one over other choices such as BoxOffice? Well, I actually loved the Opening Soon and Box Office windows within Movies.app, which displayed the movies and their posters in all their glory.
Jeffrey Grossman :: Free.

Bonus! Other note-worthy apps:
AIM
Aqua Forest
Band
Enigmo
Exposure
Facebook
NetNewsWire
NYTimes
OmniFocus
Pownce
Remote
Sketches
WeatherBug
