With a good amount of students today owning either an iPhone or an iPod touch, the launch of the App Store has brought many fantastic apps. Just as there is an app for almost everyone, there are more than a handful that are useful for students everywhere. Here’s a look at some that stand out.
Evernote. iTunes link
Months have passed, and I simply cannot stop raving about this fantastic note service. The all-in-one internet note solution has brought a good amount of the computer experience to the palm of your hand — create, edit, and organize your notes. Then, Evernote will always make sure that your notes stay synced as long as you have an internet connection handy. And yes, I emphasize on the internet connection because the iPhone version still needs to store the notes locally without relying on it. But with free campus Wi-Fi, where can you go wrong?
iProcrastinate Mobile. iTunes link
This app lets you add classes so that you can keep track of each one’s assignments. Thanks to its simple interface, you can add a new assignment in a matter of seconds to ensure that you never miss that one important paper due after that awesome weekend.
VoiceNotes. iTunes link
VoiceNotes is a free voice recorder that works without problems. If you need to make a quick note out of something, there’s no better way to do it than by speaking it into your iPhone for later reference.
Facebook. iTunes link
It’s hard to imagine a modern student nowadays that doesn’t have a Facebook page. With this native app, your iPhone will let you keep track of the latest news, friend activity, and messages. It even has Facebook’s chat system built-in, so that you can chat away in your free time.
Pandora Radio. iTunes link
Pandora is a free internet music service that does an incredible job at providing an innovative listening experience for the student that saves every penny — even on music. You just have to start by selecting some music you like, and the app will then provide similar tunes that you might like based on what you chose initially. Pandora has great sound quality, simple controls, and an interface that borrows a page from Apple’s music book.
Bonus! Pennies. iTunes link
I added Pennies as a bonus because it isn’t a free app, yet it covers an important aspect of student life: money management. Pennies lets you keep track of all the expenses you’re making within a monthly budget, tells you how much you have left, or if you have already gone over it. With Pennies’ attractive interface, you’re sure to keep track of your current economic status.

I would highly recommend myPocketProf for any and every student. It is new on the iPhone but has been out on the Android for quite some time now. It is absolutely brilliant.
