Deal or no deal: Refurb Apple TVs

Just today the refurb Apple TVs received a slight price drop over at Apple’s online store at $229 (previously $250). This might be a nice deal to consider, knowing the retail Apple TVs have a price tag of around $300.

But hey, it’s an Apple TV! The Apple product that you guys told me needed more features, according to a recent poll! Why would I be interested in it? Well, there’s the possibility to play with what’s been quite popular in the Apple TV — long before it surfaced in the iPhone — hacking.

Fortunately for Apple, some of us still think the Apple TV has enough features to keep us happy.

The rumor is that an Apple TV 2.0 will soon be introduced. Either that, or the 40 gigger is going to be discontinued for an 80.

Yes, I hope that they give the Apple TV an upgrade, too. The rumor is that it’ll even have an optical drive — but for what? Just DVDs? That’s the question…
